Caregiver Coaching
Research and the NDIA highlight the importance of parent involvement in intervention programs. Caregiver involvement is one of the strongest drivers of meaningful, lasting outcomes — and in my experience, it's where some of the most important work happens. The way that looks in practice is always individualised, shaped by your family's capacity, circumstances, and what's genuinely useful. A few service formats are listed below.
Caregiver coaching is a feature of all ongoing programs, or can be offered as a standalone service for families who aren't currently accessing direct therapy.
CBC Caregiver Education Series
A structured series of 5–6x 90-minute telehealth sessions, run without the child present. Combining Acceptance and Commitment Training with behaviour theory and independent skills practice, this series gives caregivers the tools to understand behaviour, support their child's development, and build their capacity to be the parent they want to be.
Problem-Solving Sessions
A short-term option of 2–3 solution-focused sessions for parents working through a specific challenge. A great option if other services are limited due to waitlist or funding constraints. Subject to availability.
Ongoing caregiver coaching
Many families transition from the coaching series into regular fortnightly or monthly check-ins — a space to problem-solve, troubleshoot, and stay connected as things evolve.
This is available for families of current clients as well as those accessing coaching independently, including where distance or a young person's preference makes direct therapy impractical.
